FPC developed a new fingerprint sensor can be placed under the glass

Fingerprint recognition is now almost a "standard" on the market for high-end smartphones. In general, smartphone makers embed fingerprint sensors in their Home key (such as an iPhone) or install it in a dedicated area (such as a cellphone back area). However, if the fingerprint scanner can be placed under the protective glass of the mobile phone, no special Home button or other key assistants are required, is it even more cool for the user to fingerprinting the finger on the screen at a specific location? Fingerprint Cards (hereafter FPC) are now developing the fingerprint sensor.

FPC, a biometrics development company, has successfully developed a new fingerprint sensor prototype called "FPC 1268" that can be placed under the cell phone cover glass.

The technology used by the FPC 1268 is based on capacitive recognition technology, which is used in modern high-end smartphone fingerprint scanners. FPC 1268 can be placed under a glass thickness of 300 microns. In addition, this sensor is also compatible with tempered glass, which is currently widely used in smart phones, play a fall protection.

FPC said the FPC 1268 sensor enables smartphone manufacturers to install fingerprint sensors directly under the cover glass (such as the inactive area below the display), which enhances the aesthetic appearance of the smartphone and allows the entire machine Looks smoother Of course, this sensor can also be placed in the Home key.

"With the FPC 1268 fingerprint scanner, smartphone manufacturers can install fingerprint sensors under the cell phone cover glass, resulting in a new, innovative industrial design," said Jrgen Lantto, president of FPC.

FPC will also showcase FPC1268 sensors that incorporate TPK protective glass at this year's Mobile World Congress. Products equipped with this fingerprint sensor are expected to be available in the second half of this year.
