New scheme for wireless charging based on all solid-state laser resonant beam

With the development of IoT technology, the power supply of IoT devices has become one of the obstacles restricting the development of IoT. The contradiction between battery capacity and power supply of IoT devices is also becoming more and more significant. Therefore, the technology of providing wireless energy transmission for Internet of Things devices anytime and anywhere has attracted wide attention from researchers.
There are two main types of existing wireless energy transmission technologies: near-field wireless energy transmission and far-field wireless energy transmission. Near-field wireless energy transmission technologies mainly include magnetic induction and magnetic resonance. Far-field wireless energy transmission technologies mainly include radio frequency, ultrasound, laser and so on. However, due to technical limitations, existing wireless energy transmission technologies cannot simultaneously achieve safe, long-distance, high-power wireless energy transmission.
In this study, the researchers proposed a resonant beam charging technology that uses all-solid-state laser cavity light as a wireless energy transmission medium, which can safely transmit a few watts of wireless power to a distance of several meters. Resonant beam charging technology is intrinsically safe. On the one hand, once there is a foreign object in the transmission channel, it can automatically cut off the transmission of energy; on the other hand, the organisms outside the transmission channel will not be affected by energy leakage.
In addition, the resonant beam charging system can also achieve automatic alignment and simultaneous multiple output. The researchers proposed an analytical model of the resonant beam charging energy transmission channel, and analyzed the continuous and stable operating conditions of the resonant beam charging system and the energy transmission efficiency within the working distance; a test platform for the resonant beam system was established. The output optical power was Under the condition of 10.18W, 2W of electric power can be transmitted to a distance of up to 2.6m; the transmission distance, transmission efficiency, output electric power and other properties of the resonant beam charging system are evaluated experimentally and theoretically. By further improving the mobility of the resonant cavity, the technology is expected to be widely used in remote wireless charging of electronic devices such as mobile phones.
