Apartment fire in Wheeling, 3-11-23
On Saturday morning, firefighters from Wheeling and Prospect Heights responded to a fire alarm at 375 Plum Creek Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered flames coming from a third-floor balcony on the south side of the building. The incident was upgraded to a Working Fire, prompting additional units from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Glenview, Des Plaines, Niles, the North Maine Fire Department, and Northbrook to assist.
Firefighters from Wheeling Truck 24 initiated an exterior attack using a 2 1/2-inch hose line at ground level. Meanwhile, Engine 23 and Engine 24 entered the building to combat the fire within the apartment. One resident was evacuated and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
