Apartment fire in Wheeling, 3-11-23

On Saturday morning, firefighters from Wheeling and Prospect Heights responded to a fire alarm at 375 Plum Creek Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered flames originating from a third-floor balcony on the south side of the building. The incident was quickly escalated to a Working Fire, prompting additional units from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Glenview, Des Plaines, Niles, the North Maine Fire Department, and Northbrook to assist. Wheeling Truck 24 initiated an exterior attack using a 2½-inch hose line from ground level, while Engine 23 and Engine 24 entered the building to tackle the fire inside the apartment. One resident was safely evacuated and taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Several photos were submitted by the public, including images showing the fire’s intensity and the emergency response.
