Hey everyone,
So this past Father's Day, my wife surprised me with a special gift—a tour on Old Engine 41. It was an amazing experience, to say the least. While we were on the tour, something unexpected happened. Engine 2 and Fast Boat 6-8-8 got called out for a fire down by the river, right under the Wabash Bridge. Turns out there was some debris or rubbish stuck in the gears of the bridge, which caused quite a bit of trouble. Fast Boat 6-8-8 ended up getting splashed with water while they were using their deck gun to help put things out.
The fire itself wasn’t huge, but what made it interesting was the perspective from the river level. I managed to snap a few shots, and I think they turned out pretty cool. The angle gives you a really unique view of how the firefighters work in tight spaces like that. Even though it wasn’t a massive blaze, being there and seeing everything unfold was still exciting.
[Attached are three photos taken from my phone during the event.]
Hope you enjoy them! Let me know what you think.
Take care,
Mark
