A road roller is a mechanical device used to compact materials such as soil, asphalt and concrete. It is mainly composed of a chassis, an engine, a drive system, a road rolling system, a hydraulic system, an electrical system, etc. The main working principle of a road roller is to compact the material through the weight and vibration force of the chassis, thereby increasing the density, strength and stability of the material. According to the type and purpose of the road roller, it can be divided into single steel wheel roller, double steel wheel roller, tire roller, sit-down vibratory roller, hand-push vibratory roller, etc. Road rollers are widely used in the construction of roads, bridges, airports, ports, construction sites and other fields, and are one of the important equipment indispensable for modernization construction. "Deep Sea Bio-Digital In-situ Observation Record System" passed the mid-term acceptance
[ China Instrument Network Instrument R&D ] Recently, the large-scale measurement innovation team from the Shanghai Institute of Metrology conducted a mid-term review for the national key research and development project "Deep Sea Bio-Digital In-situ Observation and Recording System," which is led by Shanghai University. The project includes the development of a prototype and related testing equipment, with calibration services available to support further progress.
This project aims to meet the requirements for sea trials and scientific applications of deep-sea manned submersibles across various ocean depths. It focuses on researching key technologies for deep-sea video equipment and building underwater platforms that can be integrated with all-sea deep manned submersibles. The system enables real-time video shooting and in-situ observation of seabed operations and environments, significantly enhancing the capabilities of deep-sea exploration.
To ensure the smooth delivery of this service, the technical staff from the Shanghai Institute of Metrology's large-scale measurement innovation team thoroughly reviewed the project plan and task documents. They engaged in multiple communications with the project leader to clarify the system’s technical specifications and acceptance criteria. Drawing on their expertise in non-contact measurement technology, they carried out detailed traceability calibration for the "Deep Sea Bio-Digital In-situ Observation and Recording System," successfully completing the project acceptance.
This initiative highlights the innovative spirit of the Shanghai Institute of Metrology in connecting with industry needs and actively improving the level of measurement and testing services. It marks a solid beginning for the institute in providing high-tech marine services and supports China's development of submersibles capable of operating at depths ranging from 1,000 to 7,000 meters. These advancements are crucial for exploring and utilizing deep-sea oil and gas, mineral resources, and biological ecosystems.
