MVA with entrapment in Lake in the Hills, 3-9-19

On Saturday afternoon, March 9, 2019, firefighters from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire District responded to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harvest Gate Road. Upon arrival, crews discovered two cars that had sustained significant damage. Two individuals from one vehicle and one from the other were taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Firefighters used specialized tools to remove parts of the vehicles to safely extract the injured. Two ambulances from Algonquin and one from Huntley were on scene to transport the patients. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported among the other occupants of the second car. The incident highlighted the quick response and coordination between local emergency services. Firefighters worked efficiently to stabilize the scene and assist the injured. The crash was captured by photographer Larry Shapiro, who documented the efforts of first responders using Hurst eDraulic rescue tools.
