Lubrication System Components
An automatic lubrication system (ALS), often called a centralized lubrication system, is designed to deliver controlled amounts of lubricant to multiple points on a machine while it's in operation. These systems can be fully automated or require manual activation, but they are still considered centralized lubrication systems. They can be categorized into two main types—oil and grease systems—and often share many common components.
Oil systems are typically used for stationary equipment like CNC machines, while grease systems are more common in mobile applications such as trucks, mining, and construction equipment.
A standard system includes a controller/timer, pump with reservoir, supply lines, distributors/metering valves, and feed lines.
