According to the archaeological work plan and progress of the Qin Shihuang Emperor’s Lingda site, in order to further understand the buried connotation of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses in the No. 2 pit, the Qin Shihuang Emperor’s Mausoleum was launched today by Emperor Qin Shi Huang on the basis of the first phase of the archaeological excavation of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses starting from the second pit in 1994. The new excavation of the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Pit No.2 is planned to have an area of ​​200 square meters. The excavation area is located in the northeast direction of the Second Pit. The National Cultural Heritage Bureau has approved the excavation plan.

The leaders of Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau will read out the archaeological license approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. After the archaeological license is read, the archeological excavation will officially begin.

In May 1976, the Qin and Qiang Archaeological Team discovered a large area of ​​clay and clay pottery pieces in the woods on the north side of Pit 1 in the Pit No. 1. It was finally determined that this was a new Terracotta Warriors and Pits, which is now seen. The second terracotta warriors and horses were buried in the pit. From 1976 to 1977, the archaeological team carried out local excavation of the second pit. In the early 1990s, in order to further understand and reveal the connotation of the Second Pit of Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage approved a planned pit number two. The first official excavation began in 1994. In the pit No.2, a very rare green face was found. Its face was painted pink and green. The discovery of the green face caused great sensation and controversy in the archaeological community. Some people think that the Green Mask is made by craftsmen accidentally. Others think that Green Mask is a sniper in the Qin Dynasty. Green is an armed decoration for the face and it is not easy to be discovered by the enemy.
