Chicago firefighters responded to a fire at a commercial building located at 1008 S. Kilbourn Avenue this morning around 8:00 AM. The blaze broke out in the center of a one-story, 100 x 125-foot brick structure, which eventually burned through the roof. The incident was escalated to a 2-11 alarm before the fire was finally brought under control.
According to a brief report from the Chicago Tribune, the building—a factory—was occupied when the fire started, but all individuals inside managed to evacuate safely without any injuries reported.
Jeff Rudolph, who was on-site, captured several compelling images that highlight the challenging conditions firefighters faced. The scene was covered in heavy snow, and temperatures were notably cold, making the firefighting efforts even more difficult.
