Newport Township’s new squad ready for service

I just got some updates from Newport Township Fire Protection District about their new heavy rescue truck, Squad 1455. They recently acquired a used 1985 Mack MR/Saulsbury heavy rescue with an impressive 8-ton, 33-foot National Crane from the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company in Maryland back in March. Lt. Rob Schreiner shared some great photos and details with us. This rig is currently nearing completion after being fully refurbished and repainted. It’s going to be stationed at Station 2 on Delaney Road since it's too tall to fit in the main headquarters. This new addition will replace two older Mack units, Squad 1455 and 1456, at Station 2. It’ll serve as a secondary vehicle for extrications, fires, and specialized rescue team (SRT) responses. Squad 1455 will provide enhanced backup for their structure fire operations, something the previous trucks couldn’t handle. It comes equipped with air packs, essential firefighting gear, a 30-kilowatt generator, and plenty of ground lighting. Interestingly, the trench box that was previously mounted on one of the old squads will now be relocated onto a smaller trailer towed by a pickup truck. There have been some minor mechanical fixes, corrosion repairs, and the installation of new radios and an Opticom system. They're also busy outfitting it with tools from the existing rigs. Some final touches like additional striping and decals still need to be done. What’s really cool is that the entire refurbishment, including the fresh coat of paint, lettering, and necessary repairs, has been generously donated by two kind-hearted individuals at no cost to the department. That’s a huge relief given the budget constraints many departments face these days. Squad 1455 was originally purchased by Lutherville VFD back in 2008 but has been sitting idle since then. Now, it’s getting a well-deserved second life serving the community. Meanwhile, the two older R-Model Mack squads will be declared surplus and put up for sale. All in all, this is a fantastic upgrade for Newport Township FPD. It’s great to see volunteer departments getting access to such capable equipment through the generosity of donors. I’m sure this new rig will make a big difference in their response capabilities.

TCT Saw Blade

TCT Saw Blade Introduction

TCT (Tungsten Carbide Tipped) band saw blade is a cutting tool used in band saw machines for various cutting applications. Tipped Saw Blade is designed with teeth that have carbide tips, which provide exceptional strength, durability, and cutting performance. TCT wood saw blade are well-suited for cutting a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and composite materials.

The tungsten carbide tips on the blade teeth are highly wear-resistant and can withstand the high temperatures generated during cutting. This allows for extended blade life and consistent cutting performance, even when working with hard or abrasive materials.

TCT band saw blades come in different tooth configurations, such as regular, skip, or variable tooth patterns, to suit specific cutting requirements. They are available in various widths and tooth pitches to accommodate different band saw machines and cutting applications.

These blades are commonly used in industries such as woodworking, metalworking, construction, and fabrication. They offer efficient and precise cutting, reducing material waste and increasing productivity. Proper blade selection, regular maintenance, and adherence to safety guidelines are essential for achieving optimal cutting results and ensuring operator safety.
