According to official sources in Bangladesh, the agreement on China’s assistance to the Menghua Fertilizer Plant project is about to be signed. The project's annual designed maximum capacity is 577,500 tons, and the cost is 616 million US dollars, of which China provides assistance funds of 559 million US dollars. The completion of the project will effectively alleviate the current shortage of the fertilizer market in Bangladesh. At present, Bangladesh annually produces 1.5 million tons of chemical fertilizers, which is far below the annual demand of 2.8 million tons.
