Cummins plans to invest 100 million U.S. dollars to build new plants in India to increase production capacity

Cummins Engine Company (Cummins Engine Inc) Indian subsidiary recently said that 2011 fiscal year the company plans to invest 5 billion rupees in India (US $ 112 million) to boost its production capacity and building a new automotive generator factory.

Anant Talaulicar, chairman and general manager of Cummins India Business, stated: "In fiscal year 2011, our capital expenditure will be around INR 4 to 5 billion, and this money will be used in India's Phaltan area. New factory and Pune laboratory."

Earlier, the company had three new factories in Phaltan, Shattra district, Maharashtra state, western India. These factories have an engine reengineering center and an engine and engine parts rebuilding plant. They are mainly responsible for producing various specifications of commercial vehicle engines, generators and other components.
