House fire in Highland Park, 2-12-15
This afternoon, Highland Park firefighters responded to a call at 24245 St. Johns Avenue after workers reported a fire in the insulation located between the second floor and the attic of an unoccupied, two-story house undergoing renovations. When the first crews arrived, they found heavy smoke billowing from the structure and quickly escalated the alarm to Code 4, indicating an active working fire. Thanks to the swift efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was confined to its area of origin, preventing further spread.
Mutual aid support came from neighboring departments, including Highwood Truck 37, Lake Forest Engine 412, Deerfield-Bannockburn Truck 20, and Northfields Truck 29. On the scene, Highland Park deployed all three of its engines, both ambulances, along with the battalion chief and fire chief.
