Mitsubishi Motors announced on October 5 that it sold 2,340 vehicles in China in September this year, a sharp drop of 62.9% compared to the same period last year.

Mitsubishi attributed the sudden drop in sales to the anti-Japanese sentiment among Chinese consumers caused by the Sino-Japanese dispute over Diaoyu Islands. In August of this year, Mitsubishi’s sales in China have already experienced a significant decline, which is down 33.4% year-on-year to 3,495 units, and further expanded in September.
