Northlake Box Alarm
Yesterday evening, the Northlake Fire Department responded to a significant house fire at 412 N. Laporte Avenue. By the time they arrived, thick smoke was billowing out of every side of the building, creating an urgent situation. The department quickly escalated their response by calling for a MABAS Box Alarm, which summoned additional support from multiple departments within MABAS Division 20.
Photographer Dave Traiforos arrived shortly after the initial crews and captured several compelling images that document the scene upon their arrival and the progression of the event. His photographs vividly depict the intensity of the situation, starting with heavy smoke emerging from the basement windows and the first floor.
One particularly striking image shows firefighters suiting up on the front steps, preparing to enter the burning home. The determination in their expressions is evident, highlighting their focus and readiness to tackle the blaze head-on. Another powerful shot captures firefighters standing by with a hose, prepared to combat the fire that had already spread through the floor, emphasizing the critical nature of their work.
Dave Traiforos has compiled a comprehensive collection of images and videos from the incident, offering a detailed look at the events as they unfolded. You can view his full gallery [here]. Meanwhile, the Franklin Park Herald-Journal (part of Sun Times Media) has also covered this story, providing further context and details [here].
This fire serves as a stark reminder of the bravery and skill required of our local firefighters, who work tirelessly to protect our communities even in the face of such challenging circumstances. Their quick actions and coordination with mutual aid departments undoubtedly made a significant difference in managing this emergency.
