SAIC-GM-Wuling Passenger Vehicle Champion Position Is Not Guaranteed

The number of wholesale sales at home and abroad of the CCPPA shows that in the generalized passenger car market, the sales volume of the former champion SAIC GM Wuling (SGMW) has dropped to the third place.

In September and October 2010, its sales were exceeded by Shanghai GM and Shanghai Volkswagen. This is not the first time that it has fallen from the championship position. In July and August of this year, its sales volume was surpassed by Shanghai Volkswagen, ranking second only.

The reason that SAIC-GM-Wuling’s championship is not guaranteed is that 90% of SAIC-GM-Wuling’s current sales come from micro-substances. From January to October this year, the year-on-year growth rate of the micro-customer market was only 25.7%, which is lower than the average growth rate of the general passenger vehicle industry. Especially in July-September, they only increased by 2.1%, 4.5%, and 1.8% year-on-year, respectively, far below the average level of the general passenger vehicle. Although micro-car sales in October increased by 16.8% year-on-year, it is still 10% lower than the average growth rate of general passenger cars.

Microbus championship position challenged

Not only was the position of the championship for general passenger vehicle sales taken away, SAIC-GM-Wuling was also challenged to win the championship in the micro-bus market.

Although accumulated sales from January to October 2010, SAIC-GM-Wuling still maintained the micro-customer sales championship (see Table 1).

From the point of view of October, its sales volume has been exceeded by Chang'an Group (including Chang'an, Hafei, Changhe), and its sales growth rate is only 1.2%, which is the lowest among enterprises producing micro-customers (referring to the group).
