Rapid development of micro-nephropathy rapid biochemical analyzer

Recently, the National 863B Project titled "Research on Rapid Detection Microsystems of Typical Diseases," jointly led by the Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xiamen Ouda Science and Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully passed the evaluation by the 863 expert group from the Ministry of Science and Technology. This marks a significant milestone in China's efforts to develop advanced diagnostic tools for rapid disease detection. Over the past 18 months, the project team worked tirelessly to create China's first miniature biochemical analyzer designed specifically for the rapid detection of kidney diseases. They have also completed small-scale production of the device. A key component, the miniaturized spectrometer, has received its production license, which is a crucial step toward commercialization. The prototype underwent a total of 700 clinical trials across four hospitals in China, with results showing that its performance is comparable to imported high-end biochemical analyzers. This innovative instrument offers several advantages, including a compact design, low cost, user-friendly operation, and fast testing times. It can analyze multiple biochemical markers within the wavelength range of 340 to 750 nm, making it suitable for both clinical settings and home use. Its potential applications are vast, ranging from hospital diagnostics to personal health monitoring. During the research phase, the team introduced several groundbreaking technologies, such as silicon-based heating chips, polymer micro-optical alignment chips, and silicon fiber slits—each developed using micro-machining techniques. These innovations enabled mass production of critical components, significantly improving the performance of the micro-spectrometer while reducing its size and manufacturing costs. The symmetrical design further simplified the optical path, contributing to better efficiency and faster development cycles. With this achievement, the project not only advances China’s capabilities in medical diagnostics but also paves the way for more affordable and accessible healthcare solutions in the future.
