Japan's Bridgestone Tire plans to invest 1.7 billion rupees (approximately US$37.79 million) in India's Indore plant and build a truck and bus radial tire production line at the plant by May 2011. Hiromi Tanigawa, executive director of Bridgestone India, said: "The current truck and bus radial tires we sell in India are imported from Japan, and Bridgestone represents 5% of India's truck and bus radial tire market." The daily production capacity of tires for the truck and bus radial tire production line of Bridgestone India's Indore plant is expected to reach 400. At present, the plant has a daily production capacity of 15,000 tires for passenger cars. In addition, Bridgestone Thailand plans to invest 16.6 billion yen in the Chonburi plant to expand the production capacity of truck and bus radial tires.
