New Breakthrough in Forming Grinding Technology in China

On March 5th, 2013, Nanjing Gongda CNC Technology Co., Ltd. used a self-developed CNC gear grinding machine to complete the forming grinding process of the hard tooth point line meshing gear, and the detection precision reached 5 levels. Mr. Wang Shengtang, Honorary President of China Gear Professional Association and Prof. Li Haixiang, a well-known expert in the field of gear industry, visited the site and visited the equipment operation and product manufacturing capabilities. He highly praised the successful grinding of the first set of hard tooth surface point meshing gear transmission in China. Not only completed a pair of gear processing, but also a new breakthrough in domestic gear processing technology, a milestone.

The point-line meshing gear transmission technology combines the advantages of involute and arc meshing transmissions. It is composed of a positive-shifting short-toothed pinion and a large gear with an involute and a transition curve at the lower part. The transmission process utilizes a transition. The curve increases the degree of overlap, improves the load-bearing capacity and transmission life, and solves the phenomenon of undercutting of gears with few teeth. Due to the use of the concave-convex contact method, the overall curvature radius increases, the contact strength increases, the tooth height decreases, and the bending strength increases. This type of transmission gear pair can save materials and reduce noise, and can replace involute gears. It is widely used in general-purpose gear reducers in metallurgy, mining, and hoisting and transportation industries, with good application effect and obvious social benefits. Li Haixiang has been engaged in research work in this field. After more than 20 years of accumulation, the design work has basically been completed, a system design calculation book has been formed, and a corresponding closed map has been established. The gear processing technology such as hobbing, generating grinding, shaving, etc. have been realized to meet the soft tooth surface and medium hard tooth surface processing, but the forming grinding technology has not been progressed. The forming grinding process solved Professor Li's major problem and also solved the bottleneck of domestic gear equipment, providing a new breakthrough for the further development of point-line meshing gears.
