Bedford Park Fire Department news and history

In 1960, the Bedford Park Fire Department made history by becoming the first to receive a new type of apparatus—the Snorkel. This marked the beginning of a long and proud chapter that would span 63 years. Over the decades, the Snorkel trucks served not only our community but also neighboring fire departments, proving their value time and again. Recently, Truck “Snorkel” 705 was officially decommissioned after serving faithfully for many years. Now, this historic vehicle is on a remarkable journey—traveling over 5,000 miles to Ukraine, where it will continue its mission in a new and meaningful way. We hope that the people of Ukraine will cherish and protect this truck as we have done for so many years. This is more than just a vehicle—it's a symbol of service, sacrifice, and dedication. It has been a part of our story, and now it becomes a part of another. Thank you for all the memories, and for being a vital part of our community. We’d like to extend a special thank you to Dennis and Rob for their contributions and support.
