In 1960, we began a chapter in our history that would last for 63 years! We were the first fire department to receive a new type of apparatus — the Snorkel. Over the years, we had several of these trucks that served not only the residents of Bedford Park but also neighboring departments. Earlier this week, Truck “Snorkel” 705 was officially decommissioned and is now on a long journey—over 5,000 miles—heading to Ukraine. There, Truck 705 will take on an even greater mission than it did here. We hope you will care for the people of Ukraine as you have for us over the past six decades. Thank you for the memories…
