July 28, China Xinxin Shanxi Net: In a significant development, Shanxi Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. has undergone reorganization with the collaboration of China Southern Automobile Industry Group and the Taiyuan Municipal Government. On July 26, Yin Jiaxu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy General Manager of China North Industries Group Corporation, as well as President of Industrial Automotive Co., Ltd., visited Taiyuan. During his visit, he announced that the first batch of heavy-duty vehicles from the Southern Auto Heavy Truck Project in Taiyuan will roll off the production line this year.
According to available information, Shanxi is the largest province in terms of automobile and auto parts sales. The sales of heavy-duty vehicles during low and peak periods reached 20,000 and 35,000 units respectively. However, for many years, Shanxi lacked its own automotive brand. In response, the Taiyuan Municipal Government pledged full support for the development of Taiyuan Southern Auto's independent intellectual property rights. The goal is to transform the province’s market advantage into an economic development opportunity, ultimately building a strong local brand.
Yin Jiaxu highlighted that since the signing of the agreement, the restructuring of SAIC Motor has proceeded smoothly. The transition of mechanisms and the resolution of outstanding issues, such as debt settlement, are being handled in an orderly manner. Construction of the new factory area is also progressing rapidly. The first batch of heavy trucks will be launched this year, initially targeting the domestic market in Shanxi. After stabilizing the local market, within three years, Taiyuan Southern Auto plans to introduce a new category of heavy-duty vehicles, aiming to bring Shanxi’s heavy trucks to a national level.
To help Shanxi build a renowned car brand, on July 26, the Taiyuan Municipal Government and Southern Auto jointly held a press conference. As part of the branding campaign, a prize of 70,000 yuan was offered to those who contribute to naming the vehicle and designing its emblem. According to the announcement, the deadline for submissions is August 25. Contributors can submit their suggestions through three different methods: SMS, mail, or email.
